The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM) of Visayas State University formally opened the first semester of AY 2025-2026 with its annual Parent Onboarding (POB) on August 13 and Student Onboarding (SOB) on August 14.
The Parent Onboarding was held online, with 158 of 555 parents and guardians in attendance. The program outlined FVM policies, particularly the newly implemented Admission and Retention Policy under BOR Resolution No. 117, s. 2024, and featured inspirational videos from parents and students. During the open forum, Dr. Agnes M. Taveros, Head of the Department of Veterinary Basic Sciences, emphasized: “We are partners in achieving the dream of your children to become successful veterinarians.”

The Student Onboarding, conducted at the VSU Gymnatorium, gathered 258 students, including 113 first-year enrollees. The activity highlighted the introduction of faculty and staff, orientation on the Admission and Retention Policy, inspirational messages, and an open forum.
The FVM Dean, Dr. Harvie P. Portugaliza presented the FVM Admission and Retention Policy for DVM.
